The cooling liquid in your engines system does
a lot more than just keep everything running a consistent temperature. Coolants' main functions are to; raise the boiling point, lubricate engine seals to prevent them becoming brittle and to also prohibit the build up of rust.
Overlooking something as simple as the coolant could result in the failure of a $5 seal with the collateral damage in the $1000's.
